Spurs fell to a shock defeat to Colchester in the cup and ex-Gooner Bramall paid homage to his ‘red and white’ side.

Speaking after their win over Tottenham Hotspur in the League Cup, Colchester United full-back and Arsenal alumni Cohen Bramall has taken to Twitter with a message in which he hails his “red and white” side, prompting a delighted response from Gunners fans.
The 23-year-old joined Arsenal from non-league Hednesford Town in January 2017 in a reported £40,000 deal (BBC Sport) and he spent the next two-and-a-half years with the North London club.
Bramall did not make a competitive senior Arsenal appearance in the end and left the Emirates Stadium this summer for the U’s, who last night claimed the scalp of Arsenal’s bitter rivals at the Colchester Community Stadium.
After the game had finished goalless, despite Mauricio Pochettino’s side having had 19 attempts at goal, Spurs duo Christian Eriksen and Lucas Moura failed to convert their opportunities from the spot, and Colchester went on to win 4-3 on penalties.
Bramall’s first post-match tweet saw him in floods of emoji tears:
Then he spoke of the “absolute battle” between the two sides and, in a nod to Arsenal, spoke of how he’s “still got red and white in me as well”:
Cue a jubilant response from many Arsenal fans:
Even sweeter for Arsenal and the Gooners is the fact they got through their own tie with flying colours, hammering Nottingham Forest 5-0 at the Emirates.
