Aston Villa beat Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 on Wednesday evening – and Arsenal fans were absolutely loving it.

Things started pretty well for Spurs; they took an early lead through Steven Bergwijn, but that’s about as good as it got.

Sergio Reguilon’s comical own goal brought Villa level, and Ollie Watkins then bagged what proved to be the winner before half time.

Watkins was a threat throughout, with his movement, pressing and running of the channels proving hard to deal with.

The 25-year-old has justified Villa’s huge outlay to sign him last summer, and he would count himself a little unlucky if he misses out on the England squad this summer.

Last night’s goal took Watkins onto 14 in his debut Premier League season, and he will have really loved scoring against Tottenham.

Watkins is a boyhood Arsenal fan who actually scored against the Gunners earlier this season, but at least levelled the score somewhat by scoring against Arsenal’s bitter rivals.

Watkins’ fellow Arsenal fans took to Twitter to rave about Watkins, with some even wanting him signed up at the Emirates Stadium.
