Arsenal look set to part ways with Alexandre Lacazette at the end of the season, with Aston Villa star Ollie Watkins now wanted as a replacement.

The Sun report that Lacazette is set to leave Arsenal in 2022 with his contract set to expire. There are seemingly no plans to give him a new deal.

The Frenchman is nearing an exit, and Arsenal will then need to find another striker to support Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

The Sun’s report states that Aston Villa ace Watkins is wanted, as is Everton star Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Watkins, 25, hit 14 Premier League goals last season, including a brace at the Emirates Stadium against Arsenal.

The England international told Sports Gazette in 2020 that his dream is play for Arsenal having grown up supporting the club.

Watkins thought it was a ‘long shot’ back then, but his form in the Premier League now means Arsenal are keen.

Arsenal fans react to Watkins rumours

Arsenal supporters have been taking to Twitter to react to the Watkins rumour – and many seem excited.

Some believe that Watkins would now walk into the Arsenal team and is a better option than Calvert-Lewin.

Others think it’s now time for Watkins to come to his real home of ARsenal having supported the club as a boy.
