Arsenal lost on penalties to Liverpool in the Carabao Cup last night.

Arsenal are out of the Carabao Cup after a frankly bonkers game of football with Liverpool at Anfield on Wednesday night.
Both sides rotated heavily for the game, and it was Liverpool who went in front as Shkodran Mustafi put through his own net, only for Lucas Torreira to equalise, and Gabriel Martinelli to bag a quickfire brace.
Harvey Elliott won Liverpool a penalty, which James Milner converted, but Milner was at fault for Arsenal’s fourth goal, giving the ball away inside his own area as Mesut Ozil flicked the ball back for Ainsley Maitland-Niles to score.
A ridiculous game turned again as Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain hammered home a long-range effort and Divock Origi turned to score and equalise, before Joe Willock’s long-range thunderbolt put Arsenal back in the lead.
Origi popped up with a last-gasp equaliser to send the game to penalties, and Arsenal managed to lose a game they had been leading for so long as Dani Ceballos saw his effort saved by Caoimhin Kelleher, before Curtis Jones put Liverpool through.
It was a thoroughly entertaining game of football, but Arsenal managing to lose the game hasn’t gone down well with many fans, with some criticising the performances of certain players – especially defenders.

Sead Kolasinac lost his place against Crystal Palace to new signing Kieran Tierney, and really didn’t take his chance as the £100,000-a-week Bosnian served up a disappointing display before being substituted for Tierney.
Fans took to Twitter to slate Kolasinac for a shocking display, claiming he was ‘terrible’ and ‘brainless’, even forgetting that he should be playing left back, whilst suggesting he’s worse than Andre Santos.
Others felt Kolasinac was really out of shape, and still a rip off on a free transfer from Schalke in 2017, with fans just thankful that replacement Tierney is now at the club.
