Arsenal had been interested in signing Facundo Torres but the winger has now signed a new deal to stay with MLS side Orlando City.

Edu was looking for a new winger in January and his top target appeared to be Mykhailo Mudryk, who ended up at Chelsea.

Arsenal pivoted to Leandro Trossard and the Belgian has shown promising signs so far.

The Gunners did have another winger in mind though, and it was a rather surprising target.

Orlando City wide man Facundo Torres became a key target for the Gunners way back in October.

The Evening Standard reported that Arsenal were looking at Torres whilst Goal suggested that talks were being held in November with Torres keen to make the move.

Come January though, no deal materialised and Torres has now decided to commit to Orlando City.

Arsenal target Facundo Torres signs new Orlando City deal

Fabrizio Romano reports that Torres has now agreed to extend his deal with Orlando City until 2027.

Romano notes that Torres will have a $30million (£25million) release clause as part of his contract.

Torres, 22, has been hailed as ‘amazing’ by Orlando City teammate Junior Urso and will now be staying with the MLS side.

The Uruguayan was outstanding last season with 13 goals and 10 assists in 40 games for Orlando City.

Torres has started the new MLS season in style too, scoring against New York Red Bulls last weekend.

Arsenal may still want a right-sided winger who can cut in on his left foot just like Bukayo Saka.

Torres can do that and may still be on Edu’s radar as a potential Arsenal signing.

Torres may be a little more expensive now though, with Orlando City no doubt delighted to get this new deal done.
