Arsenal now face a major battle for the signature of Shakhtar Donetsk talent Georgiy Sudakov with Manchester City now keen.

Manchester City, Newcastle United and West Ham United are all joining Arsenal in the race for Shakhtar Donetsk ace Georgiy Sudakov.

That is according to 90min, who claim that interest in Sudakov is rising ahead of the January transfer window.

Shakhtar made one big sale in January of 2023 with Mykhailo Mudryk completing a huge move to Chelsea.

That move hasn’t really worked out so far, but Shakhtar could now cash in on another top talent in January 2024.

Manchester City join Arsenal in Georgiy Sudakov chase

TEAMtalk claimed earlier this season that Arsenal are rivalling Chelsea in the race for Sudakov.

90min now claim that the race for Shakhtar midfielder Georgiy Sudakov is heating up ahead of the January window.

It’s stated that Manchester City, Newcastle United and West Ham United have been watching Sudakov closely.

All three clubs – as well as Arsenal – are thought to have scouted Sudakov in action for Ukraine against Italy on Monday.

Ukraine drew 0-0 with Italy, missing out on direct qualification for Euro 2024 in the process.

Sudakov impressed though and may put himself in contention for a Premier League move in January.

Who is Arsenal target Sudakov?

Sudakov joined Shakhtar from Metalist Khrakiv in 2017 and has now become a key first-team player at just 21.

Sudakov has hit 13 goals and 13 assists in 81 games for Shakhtar, playing predominantly as an attacking midfielder.

The Ukraine international actually played against an Arsenal player on Monday as he was praised by the Italian media for suffocating Jorginho in midfield.

Sudakov even compared himself to James Maddison earlier this month and claimed that Chelsea winger Mudryk is giving him advice over a move to England.

Arsenal may well be ready to pounce in January, but having missed out on Mudryk almost a year ago, history could repeat itself with City and others now keen.
