Fabio Vieira is back in Arsenal training as the Gunners prepare to take on Leicester City in the Premier League this weekend.
Mikel Arteta’s men opened the season with a strong 2-0 away win at Crystal Palace.
Just a few months ago, Arsenal’s top-four hopes took a massive hit with a dreadful performance at Selhurst Park, so winning that one will have felt so sweet.
Arsenal fans now have a chance to see their side in action at home this weekend, with Leicester making the trip to North London.
Arteta will have some selection decisions to weigh up and one of them will surround playmaker Fabio Vieira.
Fabio Vieira is back in Arsenal training
Arsenal forked out big money over the summer, paying £34million to lure Vieira over from Porto.
This was seen as a gamble at the time given Vieira’s lack of starts for Porto last season.
Porto won the league title but Vieira started just 15 league games, making a further 12 substitute appearances.
Vieira did though manage a staggering 14 assists, showing off his incredible creative abilities whilst also bagging six goals.
The 22-year-old is being backed for a huge future and now gives Arsenal another talented left-footed playmaker to compete with Martin Odegaard.
The problem for Arsenal has been Vieira’s injury status, as he has been recovering from an injury sustained before he even joined Arsenal.
Photos from Arsenal’s Tuesday training session have now emerged and Vieira has given fans a boost by being involved.
Vieira was in action at London Colney, ramping up his return to action by taking part in full training having missed out on pre-season.
It may still be too soon for Vieira to feature in the Premier League but he has now made himself a possibility for the bench against Leicester this weekend.
That’s something for Arteta to consider, with Vieira another attacking threat to factor into Arsenal’s mix.
