Arsenal want Evan Ndicka and it’s now claimed that the Gunners look likely to win the race for the Eintracht Frankfurt defender in 2023.

That’s according to transfer insider Dean Jones, who was speaking to Give Me Sport.

Jones claims that ‘it’s starting to look like’ Arsenal will secure the signing of Ndicka.

Jones noted that there were other teams in the race for Ndicka but Arsenal’s strong start to the Premier League season means they are likely to win the race.

“It’s starting to look like they’ll get their man there,” said Jones. “Arsenal aren’t the only team that wanted him. He’s been getting offers from all around Europe. But their good season has put them in a good position,” he added.

Ndicka is out of contract at the end of the season and looks set to leave Frankfurt.

That could be a cut-price deal in January or a free transfer move at the end of the season with Arsenal in line to secure a bargain.

Roma have been chasing Ndicka too but Il Romanista claimed just a few days ago that the defender has agreed to join Arsenal instead.

Who is Arsenal target Evan Ndicka?

Ndicka was born in Paris but came through the ranks with Auxerre – the club who produced former Arsenal stars Abou Diaby and Bacary Sagna.

Ndicka only played 16 times for Auxerre’s first team before being snapped up by Frankfurt in 2018.

Now with more than 150 first-team appearances for Frankfurt, Ndicka has become a quality centre back and has bags of experience for a 23-year-old.

Ndicka has yet to win his first France cap though, despite turning out for France from Under-16 all the way through to Under-21 level.

The centre back could feasibly switch allegiance to Cameroon moving forward but that hasn’t yet been decided.

A left-footed centre back who can offer great competition for Gabriel Magalhaes in Arsenal’s back four, Ndicka was the source of Gunners talks in 2021 but no deal was done.

It looks like Edu will finally land his man now though with Ndicka edging closer to joining Arsenal after all.
