Arsenal want Eduardo Camavinga but Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti has now hailed the midfielder after a ‘spectacular’ performance.

The Gunners would like to sign a midfielder and appear to be open to potential opportunities this month even if it’s not a pressing need.

Winger Leandro Trossard and defender Jakub Kiwior have been secured and Arsenal are keeping an eye on possible midfielders.

One surprise rumour emerged on Friday as the London Evening Standard reported that Arsenal fancy taking Eduardo Camavinga on loan.

The Real Madrid talent is considered to be a star of the future and has already impressed for club and country at the age of just 20.

A move to Arsenal always felt a little hard to imagine and Real have effectively ruled out a switch in the final stages of the January window.

Ancelotti hails ‘spectacular’ Arsenal target Eduardo Camavinga

Real boss Carlo Ancelotti spoke about Camavinga over the weekend and was quoted by Fabrizio Romano as saying that Camavinga is ‘untouchable’.

The Frenchman seemingly won’t be let go this month and Arsenal have been given another indication of that stance.

Camavinga beat Athletic Club 2-0 on Sunday, with Camavinga starting in midfield alongside Dani Ceballos and Federico Valverde.

Ancelotti was blown away by Camavinga’s display and was quoted by Marca as saying that he was ‘spectacular’ against Athletic, singling him out for praise.

If Arsenal had little hope of a deal before the weekend, they have next to none right now.

Camavinga is likely to play a key role for Real in a post-Luka Modric and Toni Kroos era, so it’s hard imagine him in an Arsenal shirt any time soon.

Edu and Mikel Arteta may now need to go back to the drawing board and find another midfielder to target ahead of the January deadline.
