Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham now risk missing out on signing Middlesbrough right back Djed Spence with Bayern Munich now expected to launch a bid.

That’s according to Sky Sports, who claim that Bayern are looking to bring Spence to Germany at the end of the season.

Bayern are being linked with a host of right backs, with the likes of Jeremie Frimpong and even Jeremy Toljan recently linked.

Bouna Sarr looks set to leave Bayern this summer and a replacement right back will be wanted at the Allianz Arena.

Bayern explored the Championship market last summer by signing left back Omar Richards from Reading and could now do it again with a bid for Spence.

An approach from Bayern is now expected in the coming weeks as they look to get a deal sorted well in advance of the summer.

German rivals Borussia Dortmund, Bayer Leverkusen and RB Leipzig are also thought to be keen on Spence, but it’s Bayern making the first move.

The report adds that Tottenham and Arsenal have been following Spence closely but could now miss out to Bayern.

The Northern Echo reported last week that Arsenal are expected to make a move for Spence, but Liverpool have now joined the race.

Spence has been compared to Trent Alexander-Arnold by his former Boro boss Neil Warnock, but was loaned out to Nottingham Forest earlier this season.

Spence has been shining for Forest and particularly excelled in FA Cup ties against Arsenal and Leicester City earlier this year.

An attack-minded wing back, Spence understandably has many suitors given his huge potential for the future.

Heading back to the capital may be appealing to the London-born ace, so Arsenal and Tottenham still have a chance, but Bayern’s interest represents a major threat.
