Arsenal are eyeing up a move to sign Middlesbrough right back Djed Spence – and that would see him make a stunning reunion with Emile Smith Rowe.

Arsenal spent on a new right back last summer, bringing Takehiro Tomiyasu in from Bologna.

Tomiyasu is very good defensively and supports the attack well, but Arsenal may now look for a more expansive option.

Hector Bellerin and Ainsley Maitland-Niles seemingly don’t have Arsenal futures and Cedric Soares isn’t exactly a threat going forward.

With that in mind, Arsenal are now chasing Middlesbrough right back Djed Spence, who is currently on loan at Nottingham Forest.

Spence has been excelling under Steve Cooper, scoring against Leicester City on Sunday to earn the tag of ‘absolutely brilliant’ from Gary Lineker.

Spence is expected to be sold this summer, and Goal claim that he is one of Arsenal’s top right back targets.

The 21-year-old’s outstanding attacking ability has attracted Arsenal’s interest, offering the perfect contrast to Tomiyasu.

If any Arsenal player would want this deal to happen, it may just be playmaker Emile Smith Rowe.

Remarkably, Spence and Smith Rowe were in the same youth club – Junior Elite – as kids and played together there.

Junior Elite also produced Aaron Wan-Bissaka, and having two of their former Under-10 players reunite at Arsenal would be staggering.

Smith Rowe and Spence will know each other well, and that could just help sway Spence towards Arsenal despite interest from elsewhere.

It’s rare you see players from the same Under-10 side reunite 10 years down the line, but that could be coming to fruition with Spence and Smith Rowe.
