Darren Bent thinks Chelsea are now starting to see the best out of Mykhailo Mudryk at Chelsea after his failed transfer to Arsenal.
During the 2023 January transfer window, everything pointed towards Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal signing the all-action winger.
But as Darren Bent pointed out ‘Arsenal didn’t get him’, before he proceeded to struggle during his early months at Chelsea, who ended up finishing bottom half of the Premier League table, as he told Sky Sports News.
It seems as though Mykhailo Mudryk needed those months to settle in because Bent thinks that he is now ‘clicking’ under Mauricio Pochettino.
The 22-year-old scored against Arsenal last week as Chelsea blew a 2-0 lead against their London rivals, before he missed his side’s defeat to Brentford over the weekend.
Mykhailo Mudryk is now becoming an important player for a Chelsea side yet to get going under their new manager, with Bent stating that his pace could be a ‘weapon’ and he is only getting ‘better and better’.
Mykhailo Mudryk at Chelsea
“With Mudryk, we have all been waiting,” said Bent. “Mudryk is one. Big price tag. Arsenal chased him and didn’t get him.
“But he now seems to be clicking – I do think Pochettino is the right type of manager to get the best out of him.
“You know he has got the attributes. He will pick up the ball and go past someone with the pace that he has got. If he did that more consistently, then they have a real weapon there. One thing in the game you can’t mark, you can have all the tricks in the world, is pace. And he has got an abundance of it.
“Pochettino is the right manager for him. As long as he feels the belief from the manager, which I think he does, then I think he will get better and better.”

Mykhailo Mudryk improvements
It was always going to take time, but Mudryk is now showcasing why there was so much fuss about him last January.
Yes, Arsenal fans will be happy with Leandro Trossard signing for the club instead because he has been brilliant for them.
But Mudryk, in a more settled environment at Arsenal, would have been far more dangerous at the Emirates than he has been at Stamford Bridge.
As of this moment, he only has two Premier League goals to his name, but no assists. On paper, it’s not screaming out, but his performances have been far better than that.
