David Ornstein suggests that Arsenal are chasing Atletico Madrid forward Joao Felix as well as Shakhtar Donetsk winger Mykhaylo Mudryk.

Ornstein, arguably the top football source in England, was speaking on NBCSN in America ahead of Leeds United v Manchester City on Wednesday.

Ornstein suggested that whilst Arsenal’s main target is Shakhtar wide man Mudry, the Gunners aren’t done there.

Atletico attacker Joao Felix is also understood to be on Arsenal’s wish list with Ornstein claiming that Edu and co are ‘keen to do it’.

Ornstein suggests that Felix has been offered to a number of clubs by agent Jorge Mendes, but the numbers Atletico are seeking are just too high right now.

It’s expected that Atletico’s demands will come down eventually but even a six-month loan spell will be ‘very expensive’.

“They’ve got one main target at Arsenal, and that is Mykhaylo Mudryk from Shakhtar Donetsk,” said Ornstein. “They are also keen to sign Joao Felix on loan from Atletico Madrid. He’s been offered to a number of clubs and, at the moment, the numbers are too high. Manchester United, Chelsea, many others… Jorge Mendes, his agent, knows he needs to move Joao Felix because he’s out of favour at Atletico Madrid.”

“Arsenal are keen to do it, but the numbers would need to come down for that to happen and I think that probably they will. It would only be a six-month loan and that’s going to be very expensive,” he added.

Arsenal would really go for the title with Mudryk and Felix

Many thought that Arsenal’s title hopes would crumble when Gabriel Jesus picked up a knee injury on international duty with Brazil.

Eddie Nketiah showed against West Ham United that he can take on the workload but this feels like a big chance that Arsenal may not get too many times.

Five points clear of Manchester City heading towards January, a couple of additions could make all the difference.

Mudryk has blistering pace and enormous potential, so having him and Gabriel Martinelli as options down the left would be pretty terrifying.

Then you add in the potential of a Felix loan deal and Arsenal would be adding real quality to an already dangerous attack.

Felix has previously shown his skill and goalscoring ability for Benfica, with Diego Simeone’s style of play just not suited to the Portuguese ace.

Mikel Arteta’s approach suits Felix so much better and if Arsenal can somehow sign both, they would prove that they mean business in the title race.
