Juventus still have Gabriel Magalhaes on a four-man shortlist for a January transfer despite him signing a new contract at Arsenal. The Brazilian recently extended his deal until 2027.

That is according to Foot Mercato, which reports the Serie A side will look to strengthen in central defence this winter. Juventus are desperate to enjoy a stronger second half to the season than their miserable campaign so far after crashing out of the Champions League.

The Bianconeri are also already looking at another Italian top-flight term with the Scudetto not going to Turin. While in Europe, Massimiliano Allegri’s defensive line have been turned over for 11 goals in five ties. So, Juventus chiefs have made signing a centre-half a priority.

Juventus still have Gabriel on their January shortlist despite his new Arsenal deal

Juventus will endeavour to sign a left-sided central defender in the January transfer sales. Club chiefs have conjured a four-man shortlist of potential options, even though the role is not one Allegri generally uses. Two of their four players listed are from outside of Serie A.

A potential duel with AC Milan is also on the cards with the Serie A holders advancing their interest in Jakub Kiwior of Spezia. Although Juventus also admire what Igor Julio is offering in the Italian top-flight with Fiorentina. A deal for Kiwior could cost up to €18m (£15.5m).

If the Bianconeri turn their hand to those playing outside of Italy, Strahinja Pavlovic could emerge as a firm target. The 21-year-old has caught the attention of some at the Allianz Stadium with his form for RB Salzburg. But the Turin outfit retain some interest in Gabriel.

The Bianconeri hold a long-standing interest in signing the Brazilian defender

Gabriel also features on Juventus’ four-man shortlist for potential centre-halves to sign in January, even though he only recently signed a new contract at Arsenal. The 24-year-old extended his terms at Emirates Stadium earlier this month until 2027, per The Guardian.

Arsenal confirmed Gabriel has signed a ‘long-term’ extension having been a vital player for Mikel Arteta. The Brazilian has been among the first names on the Spaniard’s teamsheets since leaving LOSC Lille for £23m in 2020. He cemented himself as their left-sided option.

Yet Juventus hold a long-standing interest in Gabriel and are seemingly not deterred by his new contract at Arsenal. CBS Sports reported in July that the Bianconeri appreciate the Sao Paulo native. While CalcioMercatoWeb noted a potential offer for him earlier this month.

It suggested that Juventus are prepared to launch a €50m (£43m) operation to sign Gabriel and Arsenal teammate Albert Sambi Lokonga. But the Bianconeri would prefer to wait for the summer market if the Italian powerhouse is to move to sign both players in one move.
