According to the Manchester Evening News, Arsenal are interested in signing Ruben Neves from Wolves.
Neves is a fantastic footballer. In fact, he’s even been described as ‘sensational’ by Gary Neville in the past, and while his all-around play is fantastic, the most eye-catching part of his game is undoubtedly his long-range shooting.
Neves has a reputation for scoring world-class goals for Wolves. His strike against Derby in 2018 is arguably the best goal in EFL history, and as recently as last year, he’d actually scored more goals from outside of the box than he had touches inside the penalty area.
Neves is undoubtedly one of the best long-range shooters in the world right now, but one man who could give him a real run for his money is currently already playing for Arsenal.
Indeed, Granit Xhaka is in a similar mould to Neves – he loves to score a screamer.
The Swiss midfielder was at it again over the weekend against Manchester United, and no player in the Premier League has scored more goals from further than 28 metres than Xhaka in the last five years.

Putting Neves and Xhaka together in the same team would allow for some of the most incredible goals you’re likely to ever see from a midfield pairing.
Whether or not Xhaka and Neves would work well together in the same team remains to be seen, and to be honest, Thomas Partey would probably be a better option than either player due to his overall contributions.
However, if Arsenal were to put these two in the same side, they would undoubtedly create a highlight reel for the ages with their long-range shooting ability.
Football is about so much more than just flashiness, but even the most studious tactician would have to admit that sometimes, you can’t beat seeing your team score a screamer.
