The thing about Arsenal is they always try to walk it in.

The other thing about Arsenal is they have and historically have had half-a-dozen injury-prone players in the squad.

And if rumours are believed, they want to add another one.

The Gunners have been linked with a move for Barcelona centre-back Samuel Umtiti in recent months.

And on Thursday, Sport reported that his suitors could pick him up for as little as £27 million.

Given that he’s a Barcelona player who’s only 26, and a World Cup winner to boot, it seems too good to be true – and that’s because it is.

Umtiti, who earns £210,000 per week at Camp Nou, is also quite injury prone, hence why the Catalan club want to offload him.

Since the start of last season, the France international has missed 42 games through injury and many of those were related to his knee, which is worrying.

In the scheme of things, £27 million isn’t a huge sum of money for a club like Arsenal who have broken their transfer record three times in as many years on Alexandre Lacazette, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Nicolas Pepe, for a combined £180 million.

But with a lack of gate revenue due to the global health crisis, times are tough in North London financially and spending £27 million on a crock is just bad business all round.

This could and definitely should be a hard pass by Arsenal.
