Arsenal have had some massive strikers down the years.

Dennis Bergkamp, Thierry Henry, Robin van Persie and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang have all undeniably been of a world-class standard during their time at Arsenal, at one point or another.

And the Gunners have also had some huge forwards in terms of size, going back to Niall Quinn, to the likes of Nicklas Bendtner and Olivier Giroud.

At 6’6, Nwankwo Kanu is probably the biggest striker to ply his trade up front for the North Londoners.

However, Arsenal could now be signing a big number nine in both physique and goalscoring.

FC Inter News reported today that the Emirates Stadium outfit have made contact with Sassuolo over signing Gianluca Scamacca.

The 23-year-old is one of the biggest strikers in top-level European football, standing at 6’5.

But he also knows how to score goals.

Thirteen goals in 17 Serie A starts this season is an excellent return – and even better when you consider the enhanced quality he’d have around him at Arsenal.

We’re talking Martin Odegaard, Gabriel Martinelli, Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith Rowe.

That level of supporting cast could and probably would certainly take Scamacca to a new level in terms of goalscoring.

In terms of size, the Italian hitman is an inch shorter than Kanu, which means he couldn’t be Arsenal’s biggest-ever striker.

But his height, combined with his nous in front of goal, makes him a fascinating footballer and it’ll be interesting to see if the Gunners do go for him.
