Arsenal have been handed a potential boost in their reported pursuit of Lautaro Martinez.
Speculation is rife that Arsenal want to sign the Inter Milan striker, whom Edu has reportedly already asked about.
And Eurosport report this morning that the Premier League is a division that very much interests the Argentine hitman, claiming that he has always wanted to test himself in England’s top flight.
The report also adds that the ‘deal could be done‘ but that it hinges on Martinez’s valuation, with Italians reportedly wanting £65 million.
Good signing?
In a word, absolutely.
Arsenal desperately need to freshen up their forward line.
Alexandre Lacazette – who could also leave the club, Eurosport add – and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang are both over the age of 30.
And despite some gems coming through, like Folarin Balogun and Gabriel Martinelli, neither are tested as first-choice strikers in a Premier League side, although the latter certainly has a frightening amount of talent.
Still just 23, Martinez has a hell of a lot to offer any English club too – and 40 goals and 19 assists over the past two seasons certainly reflect that.
But there’s no denying that he would cost Arsenal an absolute bomb.
That £65 million is a lot of money but considering the Gunners are only paying £30 million for Ben White up front – and the other £20 million over the course of the next two years – maybe something could be worked out.
