Arsenal defender Gabriel is of interest to Barcelona with the Nou Camp sign willing to offer Memphis Depay – and two others – in a player-plus-cash deal. Depay, who was once compared to Thierry Henry, by Christophe Jallet.
Depay, 28, joined Barcelona in the summer from Lyon – where he played alongside Jallet. Signing for Barca on a free, he started well but since then, Ronald Koeman has been sacked and injury issues have affected Depay.
Since December, he has picked up hamstring, ankle and groin injuries. SPORT claim that Depay – along with Neto and Riqui Puig – could be included in a deal by Barcelona to sign Gabriel in the coming months.
So, if Arsenal do agree to such a deal, there is a chance they end up with Depay. A player that Jallet said, back in 2017, has similar abilities to that of Arsenal legend Henry. He said the Barca attacker has “fire in his legs”.
“He is a talented player, he has a fire in his legs and has a very good right foot,” Jallet told RMC Sport – as per The Express. “When he plays on the left, he puts balls in front of goal and score with dribbling – like Thierry Henry.”
Jallet on Depay: Arsenal could really do with Barcelona star
The Gunners need a striker and Depay – although he has injury issues, he would be the ideal signing. They need a striker that can score goals, but create too and Depay did it at Lyon as a no.9 – 76 goals, 55 assists.
Alexandre Lacazette is providing the creativity, but not the goals. He is about to go on a free, as is Eddie Nketiah. Arsenal need a Harry Kane, a 10 and that can score goals, or a no.9 that can create. Depay can do that.
