Arsenal could leave the door open for Tottenham Hotspur to sign Arthur Vermeeren by delaying a move for the Royal Antwerp talent.
Arsenal may well be in the market for another midfielder in 2024.
Thomas Partey continues to pick up injury problems and Italian international Jorginho is out of contract in the summer.
Declan Rice has made an enormous impact but Arsenal may well look for another option – and it could be for the summer rather than in January…
Arsenal may delay move for Tottenham Hotspur target Arthur Vermeeren
90min reported just a few days ago that Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur both scouted Royal Antwerp midfielder Arthur Vermeeren in Champions League action against Barcelona.
The 18-year-old scored the opener in a memorable 3-2 win for Antwerp, so he certainly did his part in front of those scouts.
However, TEAMtalk now suggest that Arsenal may push back their interest in Vermeeren until the summer.
It’s stated that Arsenal plan to be ‘cautious’ with their spending in January and may not move for Vermeeren just yet.
That may well leave the door open for Tottenham to pounce as they continue to chase Vermeeren too.

Look at Tottenham’s midfield situation; Yves Bissouma and Pape Matar Sarr will be heading to the Africa Cup of Nations whilst Rodrigo Bentancur is injured again.
Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg’s future is unclear and James Maddison isn’t back until January at the earliest.
Tottenham will be looking to add another midfield option even if Hojbjerg stays and Vermeeren could be the man.
Vermeeren seems to be a great fit for Ange Postecoglou’s style of play given his ability to break up play and then make an impact going forward with smart passing and close control.
Vermeeren could play in a Bissouma-type role for Tottenham or even further forward if needed, with Vermeeren possessing a well-rounded game for a teenager.
Backed by Antwerp boss Mark van Bommel to make ‘step after step’ forward in his career just like Jude Bellingham, Vermeeren could be on the move in January – and Tottenham appear to be a more likely destination than Arsenal right now.
