Arsenal are reportedly weighing up the option of sending Marquinhos out on loan in January as transfer rumours to the likes of Mykhaylo Mudryk continue to hot up.

According to the Evening Standard, the Gunners are debating whether or not to loan out the Brazilian youngster for the second half of the season, with Arsenal expected to move for a more experienced right-sided winger in the January transfer window to provide competition for Bukayo Saka.

As per the report, £85m-rated Shakhtar Donetsk star Mudryk is one of the players Arsenal are chasing, as well as Orlando City talent Facundo Torres. And should the north London side move for a winger in January, it will likely mean Marquinhos heading out on loan.

Despite scoring and assisting on his professional Arsenal debut against FC Zurich in the UEFA Europa League, Marquinhos has failed to make much of an impact under Mikel Arteta, with the attacker making just one appearance in the Premier League off the bench and making only one other start in Europe.

Lauded by Zurich midfielder Antonio Marchesano as ‘exceptional’, there is little to worry about with Marquinhos’ lack of minutes so far with Arsenal given that this is the teenager’s first season in Europe. And a loan spell in the new year could be exactly what the youngster needs to unlock his potential.

Indeed, Arsenal’s unlikely Premier League title bid and Europa League knockout stage adventure means that opportunities will be limited for Marquinhos in 2023, and loaning out the winger could be one of the better moves the north London side do in January.

Marquinhos only arrived in England this summer after a handful of appearances for Sao Paulo in his native Brazil, yet whilst the teenager has impressed in patches for the Gunners, Arsenal sending the youngster out on loan would be a wise decision from the north London side.

After all, the attacker needs all the playing time in the professional game as possible if he’s to push his development, and heading out on loan to a club in Europe or even in England will be smart from Arsenal, who have a potential gem on their hands.
