Arsenal have a number of talented young players on their books at the moment, but one man who hasn’t had enough of a chance is Reiss Nelson.
While the likes of William Saliba and Joe Willock have headed out on loan to cut their teeth and prove their credentials, Nelson has been left to rot on Arsenal’s bench, starved of opportunities.
Saliba and Willock will come back to Arsenal this summer, and if reports are to be believed, they’ll be given a chance to prove that they’re capable of contributing to the Gunners’ squad, while Nelson has continued to be linked with a move away.
However, we can’t help but feel that letting Nelson go without handing him an opportunity to prove himself on loan would be a mistake.
Just look at what Willock has done at Newcastle, he’s proven himself to be a Premier League quality player and it only took one opportunity for him to show what he can do.
Of course, Nelson has had a loan spell in the past over in Germany with Hoffenheim, and it’s fair to say that he impressed in the Bundesliga, netting seven goals in 23 games, but since then, he’s rarely had the chance to show what he can do in the English top-flight.

Nelson is clearly a talented player. After all, you don’t score at such a rate in Germany as a teenager unless you’ve got something about you, but as we say, he’s not had enough of a chance to spread his wings in England.
Perhaps what he needs is a loan spell to another Premier League club that will utilise him effectively, in the same way Willock has at Newcastle.
So many teams in the bottom-half of the division would love the opportunity to take a player like Nelson for a season, and we’re sure that Nelson would love a shot at playing regular Premier League football, especially after seeing what Willock has done at Newcastle.
If Arteta plays his cards right, Nelson could emulate Willock’s rise to glory out on loan.
