According to Fabrizio Romano, Arsenal have been scouting Yunus Musah recently, and that news is interesting in more ways than one.
For a start, Musah is an incredible midfielder. He’s physically excellent, he’s tactically astute and he plays with an intensity that Mikel Arteta would love in his engine room.
It’s no surprise to hear that Musah has been described as a ‘Pogba-like’ midfielder in the past. He’s very much in that same mould of being a Rolls Royce-type midfielder who can take any game by the scruff of the neck.
Indeed, the Pogba comparisons are very apt, but if Arsenal do sign him there will be a real hint of irony behind the fact he’s been likened to Pogba.
Musah was, of course, a part of the Arsenal academy before moving to Valencia where his value has since skyrocketed, and now, Arsenal are looking to bring him back.
Musah is a talented midfielder who didn’t get a chance at one of England’s biggest clubs. Therefore, he had to move away to get more gametime, only for his original club to look at bringing him back – does that remind you of anyone?
The American midfielder’s career is almost perfectly mirroring Pogba’s who had to leave Manchester United for Juventus only for the Red Devils to re-purchase him for a club-record fee.
Musah has been compared to Pogba in terms of his style, and now, he may be about to emulate the Frenchman’s controversial return to United by heading back to Arsenal.
Of course, Arsenal fans will be hoping that Musah’s potential return works out better than Pogba’s did at United, but whether or not this move even happens remains to be seen.
After being compared to Pogba from a young age, there would be a huge level of irony in Musah heading back to the Emirates after leaving as a teenager.
