Arsenal have seemingly made their move on Dusan Vlahovic – and the new Tottenham Hotspur boss won’t be happy.
According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Arsenal have agreed a deal with Fiorentina for the exciting 21-year-old hitman.
There’s no doubt that the Gunners need to freshen up their forward line, but one man who could and should be frustrated by this development – if it’s true, that is – is Tottenham’s Antonio Conte.
It would sicken the newly-appointed Spurs head coach if he winds up on the red half of the North London divide.
That’s because Conte had reportedly earmarked Vlahovic as a transfer target during the January transfer window.
La Nazione reported just this week that he was ‘increasingly likely’ to join the Lilywhites after their appointment of Conte.
Missing a key target is one thing, but losing out to your local rivals is another thing entirely and the idea of him going to Arsenal makes it so much worse for Conte and Tottenham fans.
The good news is that Di Marzio stipulated that Vlahovic hadn’t agreed personal terms with anybody.
That leaves Spurs still open as a possibility but, realistically, is he going to join a club who already have a world-class striker – like Harry Kane – ahead of him in the pecking order?
That’s the bad news for the Italian coach and his new club.
