Arsenal have confirmed that Reiss Nelson should return to full training next week having picked up a knock in training.

The Gunners beat Molde 4-1 in the Europa League on Thursday night, but winger Nelson notably wasn’t involved.

The 20-year-old isn’t close to starting in the league, so Europa League games seem to be his best route to playing for Mikel Arteta.

In October, Arteta confirmed that Nelson rejected a loan move away from the club, in order to try and fight for his place at Arsenal.

He maybe hasn’t got the football he would have wanted, but his omission on Thursday was down to injury rather than selection.

Arsenal have announced that Nelson suffered bruising to his right knee in training before Thursday’s game with Molde, so he will miss out against Aston Villa today too.

Nelson will allegedly aim to return to full training next week, meaning Arsenal will hope to have him fit and available after the international break.

Nelson’s playing time will be something to monitor, as he may well be tempted to look at a loan move again come January if he isn’t featuring more prominently.
