Konstantinos Mavropanos is clearly loving life away from Arsenal.

The Gunners loaned out bigger players than the Greece international this past summer – like Lucas Torreira, Matteo Guendouzi and William Saliba, to name a few.

But the big centre-back can claim to be probably the highest-performing of any star who Mikel Arteta and Edu allowed to leave North London on a temporary basis during the off-season.

That’s because Mavropanos was on target again on Saturday as Stuttgart beat Hoffenheim 3-1.

In doing so, the 23-year-old colossus now has a very impressive three goals for the German side in just eight games.

Mavropanos’s form is made all the more impressive by the fact that he’s a centre-back.

You can’t blame Arteta for loaning him out because Ben White and Gabriel Magalhaes are forming a very good partnership in Arsenal’s defence right now.

But beyond those two, Arteta’s centre-back options include Pablo Mari, Rob Holding and Calum Chambers.

And Mavropanos can probably claim to be an upgrade on any of those three.

If White or Gabriel suffer a long-term injury this season, and Arsenal are ever forced to rely on one of those three and struggle, questions will be asked of the Spanish coach – and rightly so.
