Arsenal want Romeo Lavia but Chelsea are now believed to be ramping up their interest in the Southampton wonderkid.

That’s according to TalkSPORT, who claim that Chelsea are stepping up their efforts to sign Lavia.

The Blues actually made an offer to sign Lavia last summer, mere weeks after Southampton had signed him from Manchester City.

Southampton understandably rejected that offer but Chelsea are now accelerating their push for the midfielder.

Chelsea’s Joe Shields played a key role in taking Lavia to Southampton having worked with him at Manchester City.

That may give Chelsea the upper hand in the race to sign Lavia – and leave Arsenal trailing in the race for his signature.

Southampton would ideally not want to sell Lavia, but accept he will go if the Saints suffer relegation.

Arsenal could miss out on Romeo Lavia

The Daily Mail reported two weeks ago that Arsenal were interested in luring Lavia to North London.

it was noted that Chelsea and Manchester United are also keen on signing Lavia this summer.

Lavia hasn’t always been at his best this season and he actually received criticism from boss Ruben Selles just a few weeks ago.

Yet many can see the enormous potential in Lavia’s game and can appreciate the kind of player he can become.

Lavia is only 19 and is playing his first season of Premier League football in a struggling team.

That wouldn’t be easy for anyone but we have seen promising signs from Lavia – enough to spark major interest from other Premier League clubs.

Hailed as a ‘very special’ player by Jadon Sancho, Lavia appears to have a huge career ahead of him and he will surely play for one of the so-called ‘big boys’.

Arsenal want another midfielder this summer and Lavia had been viewed as a talent who could become a superstar under Mikel Arteta.

Yet with Chelsea now pushing to finally secure Lavia’s signature, the Gunners face an uphill battle to bring him to the Emirates Stadium.
