Carlo Ancelotti would prefer to take a job in the Premier League, according to the Sun, as the Italian considers his next move following his sacking by Bayern Munich.

Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool have all been named as potential destinations for the 58-year-old – who has decided to take the rest of the season off before returning to club management next summer.

Yet which would be the most likely?

Arsenal

Arsene Wenger signed a new two-year contract with the Gunners in 2017 and would therefore need to step back in order for this to happen with it apparent the Gunners’ hierarchy will not sack the 67-year-old.

Fans of the club are divided between whether they want Wenger to stay or not, but Ancelotti is perhaps one of the only available coaches in world football with a big enough reputation to succeed the Frenchman.

Chelsea

We’ve been here before, with the former Bayern boss winning the Premier League and FA Cup double in his first season with the Blues in 2009/10 before being sacked just a year later after finishing second.

Whether Ancelotti would return to Stamford Bridge after that dismissal remains to be seen, although Telegraph journalist Sam Wallace suggested on Sky Sports’ Sunday Supplement panel that the West London club regretted their decision and would be open to rehiring him if, as expected, Antonio Conte leaves at the end of the season.

Liverpool

Pressure is starting to build on charismatic Reds boss Jurgen Klopp after a string of disappointing results and for the first time in his two years at Anfield, questions are starting to be seriously asked about whether he is the right man for the job.

However, Klopp getting sacked seems highly unlikely unless things get a lot worse and therefore it seems a position on Merseyside is the least likely for Ancelotti – for the time being at least.
