Arsenal defender Oleksandr Zinchenko is on International duty with Mykhailo Mudryk – and has posted a photo with the Chelsea man.
Premier League football takes a back seat this week as players head away to play for their countries.
Arsenal have a number of players heading across the world to play international football this week, with Mikel Arteta hoping to see his stars avoid injuries.
You could maybe forgive Arsenal ace Zinchenko for feeling a touch awkward as he heads away to feature for Ukraine.
This will be the first time Zinchenko plays alongside Ukraine teammate Mykhailo Mudryk since the rather famous January transfer U-turn.
Mudryk looked destined to sign for Arsenal after months of chasing him.
The Gunners were stunned though as Chelsea hijacked the move, paying a staggering £88.5million to Shakhtar Donetsk.
Zinchenko and Mudryk will now line up together for Ukraine this week and the Arsenal star has posted a photo of the pair in training today.
Arsenal fans are of course cracking jokes in the replies, mocking Mudryk after a slow start to his Chelsea career.
Oleksandr Zinchenko allegedly wanted Mykhailo Mudryk to join Arsenal
It looked like Mudryk and Zinchenko would be wearing red and white together.
Mudryk told Vlada Zinchenko – Oleksandr’s wife – that he idea of playing down the same flank at Arsenal was appealing to him.
CBS Sports journalist Ben Jacobs also told Give Me Sport that Mudryk had spoken to Zinchenko about the move to North London.
90Min even suggested that Zinchenko had given a ‘glowing reference’ on Mudryk to those above him at Arsenal.
This looked like a marriage made in heaven but Arsenal refused to meet Shakhtar’s demands – and the winger wasn’t waiting around.
Mudryk wasted no time in completing his move to Chelsea and now finds himself as a direct rival of Zinchenko.
The pair will probably have a laugh about the whole thing on international duty, putting it to one side in a quest for Ukraine victories.
