Arsenal were keen on signing Malik Mothersille in 2020 but the now-Chelsea talent had reservations about signing for the Gunners.
That’s according to The Athletic, who claim that Mothersille was attracting major interest when he was emerging with Leyton Orient.
It’s stated that Manchester United handed Mothersille a trial but they weren’t convinced by him, so didn’t offer a deal.
The report adds that Arsenal also had a look at Mothersille but this time it was the player who ‘wasn’t convinced’ by the move.
Norwich City as well as Brighton and Hove Albion were keen on Mothersille but he ended up signing for Chelsea instead.
Fast forward a couple of years and Mothersille may well be needed in the Chelsea first-team setup.
Armando Broja is out for the season after a nasty knee injury and Chelsea may need Mothersille on the bench until January.

Primarily a left winger who can also play up front or on the right side, Mothersille has been highly-regarded at Chelsea.
Mothersille spent time on loan with Derby County’s Under-18’s in 2021, bagging three goals and two assists.
The versatile attacker – who can play for Jamaica at international level – has been in pretty good form this season.
Four goals in three EFL Trophy games has put Mothersille on the radar, whilst he has also bagged a couple of goals in the UEFA Youth League and Premier League 2.
Mothersille has yet to make his first-team debut for any club and it will now be down to Graham Potter to decide if he is ready.
Arsenal may not feel like they have missed out on much at the moment but Mothersille will be looking to take this potential chance offered up by Broja’s unfortunate injury.
