Gabriel Martinelli looks set to sign a new Arsenal contract until 2027 amid claims that he will not be waiting for Barcelona.
That’s according to Catalan newspaper SPORT, who claim that Martinelli has decided to renew his contract with Arsenal.
It’s stated that Martinelli will be signing a new deal until 2027, with his current contract set to expire in the summer of 2024.
Barcelona were keen on signing Martinelli and had allegedly worked up a strong relationship with his representatives.
However, Martinelli isn’t going to wait for Barcelona to bid for him and is ‘very close’ to signing his new contract.
It’s noted that Martinelli expressed his intention to sign a new deal a few days ago and everything is in place for him to sign.
This is perfect news for Arsenal, who have been working on Martinelli’s deal for some time and have been pushing for him to stay.
The hope now is that Martinelli’s contract decision will tempt others like William Saliba and Bukayo Saka into signing new contracts too.

Martinelli set to disappoint Chelsea with Arsenal deal
It isn’t just Barcelona who will be left gutted by Martinelli’s decision to commit to Arsenal.
Reports from the Daily Mail in October suggested that Chelsea were looking towards Martinelli as a potential signing.
The Blues were watching Martinelli’s contract situation closely in the hope of swooping in and snatching one of Arsenal’s top talents.
Todd Boehly and co will have to go back to the drawing board now though with Martinelli preferring North London to the west of the capital.
Martinelli, 21, has been superb for Arsenal this season, bagging five goals and two assists in 14 Premier League games.
The expectation is that Martinelli is going to keep developing and become a superstar; Arsenal will just be happy with that his future will be with them rather than Chelsea.
