A round up of everything and anything happening at Arsenal in the last 24 hours.
Marouane Chamakh may be about to end his torrid spell with the Gunners by sealing a deal to join Turkish giants Besiktas, according to their manager Samet Aybaba. Whether the Istanbul side can actually afford the Moroccan is another question with reports of financial strain but they seem confident that Chamakh could make the move to the Turkish Super Lig next season, reports Yahoo Sport.
Southampton have produced some fine young footballing talent in the last few years and it seems another one is about to be pried off the production line by Arsenal. The Daily Mail reports that Arsenal are looking to bring highly rated England youth international full back Luke Shaw to the Emirates this summer where he could join ex Saints Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
However according to The Metro Theo Walcott may be involved in a sensational switch back to the south coast with his former club Southampton reportedly pushing for a record £15 million deal for the England forward. It is believed Theo wants a new deal at Arsenal, where his current deal expires this summer, but failing this the Saints may be ‘marching in’ to bring him back to St Marys. The deal seems highly unlikely however with Walcott intent on playing European football that Southampton cannot provide him with. Walcott has been impressive this pre-season and scored in Arsenals 2-2 draw with Hong Kong side Kitchee United on Saturday along with another impressive pre-season gunner Thomas Eisfeld.
Park Chu-Young however gave Arsene Wenger a timely reminder of the quality he does possess by scoring a stunning diving header for South Korea in their Olympic Group B matchup against Switzerland. He scored the opening goal in the contest as South Korea went top of Group B after a stunning volley from Cardiff City new boy Kim Bo-Kyung, match report from Goal.com.
Meanwhile The Metro understands that a deal is underfoot to bring in young French striker M’Baye Niang from Stade Malherbe Caen. The teenager of Senegalese descent is reportedly keen on a move to Arsenal ahead of other interest from the likes of Spurs, Man City and AC Milan. He would be a useful member of the first team with the RVP saga waging on, Chamakh and Bendtner heading for the exits and the loss of Carlos Vela already this season. With Caen suffering relegation to Ligue 2 last season a move seems possible if Arsene Wenger meets the Normandy sides demand.
