Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal are eyeing Celta Vigo talent Gabri Veiga with Newcastle United and Manchester United both interested too.

That’s according to Spanish newspaper AS, who claim that Arsenal and United are ‘on the lookout’ for Veiga.

It’s stated that Newcastle scouted the midfielder in action for Celta against Atletico Madrid on February 12th.

The report claims that Celta know Veiga is their most saleable asset right now and they may look for a big summer sale.

Celta allegedly want around €30million (£26.5million) for Veiga this summer.

That’s a little short of the €40million (£35million) release clause in Veiga’s deal but Celta may want to take the money on offer.

Who is Arsenal target Gabri Veiga?

Veiga was born in Galicia and is a product of the Celta youth ranks.

After 10 goals in 64 games for Celta’s B team, Veiga has exploded this season.

The 20-year-old has racked up six goals and two assists in 21 La Liga games this term, becoming one of the breakout stars of the campaign.

A central midfielder who loves to drive forward with real confidence, Veiga has shown outstanding ability to contribute in the final third.

Veiga already has a cap for Spain’s Under-21’s and senior caps are expected down the line after showing massive potential this term.

Celta boss Carlos Carvalhal has praised Veiga as being a ‘very high level’ player as well as ‘intelligent’ and ‘very strong’.

Veiga seems destined for a huge future and it’s no surprise compatriot Mikel Arteta appears to have taken a liking to him.

When you add in Arsenal’s interest in Real Valladolid teenager Ivan Fresneda, we could end up seeing two top Spanish talents head to North London.

That’s an exciting prospect but interest from Manchester United and Newcastle United means the race for Veiga is far from easy.
