Arsenal want to keep Bukayo Saka

The big subject right now is Bukayo Saka, whose contract expires in 2024.

Saka, 21, has hit four goals and four assists in 10 Premier League games this season and has dazzled as one of the top talents in the league.

Now set to shine for England at the World Cup in Qatar, there appears to be no limit on how high Saka can go.

Understandably, Arsenal want to make sure that his bright future is with them.

The Athletic note that Arsenal are closest to securing a new deal for Saka amid hopes of also extending the deals of Gabriel Martinelli and William Saliba.

Fabrizio Romano has now taken to YouTube to offer some information about Saka’s contract and the clubs who want him.

Romano believes that Manchester City, Liverpool and even Chelsea have all been looking at Saka with a view to signing him should his contract run down.

Romano did though add that Arsenal boss Arteta is pushing for the club to secure Saka’s deal and there is real optimism that an agreement will be in place very soon.

“Many top clubs are following Bukayo Saka since a long time, it’s absolutely normal; he’s English, he’s a top talent, he’s doing fantastic,” said Romano. “Man City, Liverpool, Chelsea, many clubs have been following the situation of Bukayo Saka. But since last February, Buakyo Saka’s agents are in discussion with Arsenal to extend the contract. The feeling is positive on both sides.”

“Mikel Arteta is pushing a lot to have Bukayo Saka with a new contract, so at the moment there is optimism to extend. This is a priority for Arsenal. The player is happy there, he loves the club, so at the moment this is the situation. Let’s see how the negotiation will go but Arsenal are optimistic to keep Bukayo Saka,” he added.

Chelsea’s interest in Saka comes amid rumours that they also fancy signing fellow Arsenal winger Martinelli.

Arsenal need to keep hold of both players anyway, but seeing them join Chelsea would be a real gut punch for this exciting Gunners side.

Fans always want new signings but if you offered Arsenal fans confirmation that Saka and Martinelli are staying or two new signings, they would almost certainly pick the former.
