Arsenal lost 3-2 at Manchester United on Thursday night, and Ally McCoist spotted something of an issue in Bukayo Saka’s game.

Emile Smith Rowe fired Arsenal ahead, only for Bruno Fernandes and Cristiano Ronaldo to turn the game on its head.

Martin Odegaard pulled Arsenal level, only for Ronaldo to bag the winner from the penalty spot after an Odegaard foul on Fred.

Arsenal couldn’t get themselves level and ultimately fell to defeat in another big away game.

McCoist points out how Arsenal talent Saka can improve

Arsenal ace Bukayo Saka wasn’t considered fit enough to start having picked up an injury against Newcastle United last weekend.

Mikel Arteta did throw Saka on in search of a goal, but it just didn’t happen.

Saka is Arsenal’s golden boy right now and everybody loves him, but pundit Ally McCoist pointed out some deficiencies on Amazon Prime.

In the 83rd minute, Nuno Tavares swung in a cross for Arsenal. Everybody missed it, it came to Saka at the back post but he could only chip the ball into David De Gea’s arms.

McCoist wasn’t happy, suggesting that Saka should have been closer to the goal to really attack the back post rather than hovering away from goal.

“I think he should be further in, I really do,” said McCoist. “I think Saka’s position is too deep when the cross comes in. He’s too far outside the box, he should be another 10 yards in so he can take a touch and get a finish. You’ve got to gamble that they miss it.”

Just three minutes later, the same thing happened again; a deep Tavares cross that found its way to Saka at the back post.

Saka got away a shot on goal this time, but it was blocked and went out for an Arsenal corner.

Again, McCoist was urging Saka to get closer to the goal in order to work better angles for himself, maybe something Arsenal should push on the wide man moving forward.

“I think he should be five yards in again, I really do! He gets the ball, but his angle is a bit tight. If he takes another five yards, he’s got more of the goal to shoot at,” added the Scot.
