Arsenal won yet again on Sunday, beating Leicester City 2-0 – and goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale left Brendan Rodgers absolutely blown away.
The Gunners claimed a very early opener as Thomas Partey flicked home a near-post corner, exposing Leicester’s problems defending from set pieces once again.
Alexander Lacazette buried the second from the penalty spot, taking advantage after a Caglar Soyuncu handball inside the area.
Arsenal saw the game out perfectly, keeping yet another clean sheet as the Gunners move to five straight Premier League wins.
A big reason for that clean sheet was goalkeeper Ramsdale, who excelled once again in the Arsenal goal.
Ramsdale has enjoyed a superb first season at Arsenal and produced another moment of brilliant goalkeeping against Leicester.
With Arsenal winning 1-0, Leicester were pressing for an equaliser and carved out a great chance from Marc Albrighton’s cross.
Harvey Barnes rose highest to win the header, but Ramsdale moved quickly to claw the ball away from goal.
Ramsdale has enjoyed many of these moments this season, most notably with a stunning save to deny James Maddison against Leicester earlier in the campaign.
Sky’s footage showed Brendan Rodgers celebrating after Barnes’ header, seemingly believing the ball was destined for the back of the net.
When Rodgers realised Ramsdale had pulled off a great save, he simply said the word ‘wow’ – just like many Arsenal fans will have done too.
One word said so much about Ramsdale’s goalkeeping, with Rodgers no doubt sick of the sight of the Arsenal stopper now.
It feels almost nailed on that Ramsdale makes the England squad very soon, and with Jordan Pickford in a relegation battle at Everton, who can rule out Ramsdale being England’s number one goalkeeper at the World Cup later this year?
