Mo Salah one side, Kevin De Bruyne the other, Romelu Lukaku through the middle.

You could make one hell of a strike force out of three forwards Chelsea let go.

Whether Tammy Abraham is capable of hitting such vertigo-inducing heights away from Stamford Bridge remains to be seen. But, as Lukaku fires Inter Milan to the Serie A title and De Bruyne and Salah tear Premier League defences apart, Chelsea supporters are understandably wary of history repeating itself.

According to The Telegraph, Abraham will be sold this summer. That is, of course, if someone is willing to pay £40 million for a striker who has started just two top-flight games under Thomas Tuchel, left on the bench once again for last night’s clash with Real Madrid.

The England international certainly has his fair share of admirers. Penalty-box poachers with a superb minutes-to-goal ratio usually do.

Earlier this week, TEAMtalk reported Southampton, West Ham United and Newcastle were jostling for position. Aston Villa, meanwhile, would jump at the chance to re-sign a player who scored for fun during a loan spell in claret and blue three years ago.

The prospect of Jack Grealish reuniting with his old pal is the stuff dreams are made of for Villa fans.

It hasn’t gone unnoticed, meanwhile, that Arsenal are in the market for a new number nine. And the Gunners have a habit of signing players who have fallen out of favour down the road in west London.

At this stage, no-one knows where Abraham will be plying his trade in 2021/22 – but it surely won’t be Chelsea.

Here’s what some Chelsea fans had to say on Twitter about the Abraham situation:
