Arsenal boss Unai Emery sees improvement in Bukayo Saka

Arsenal youngster Bukayo Saka has played five times for Unai Emery’s side so far this season.

Unai Emery has told the Daily Mail that he thinks Arsenal forward Bukayo Saka is getting better and better.

Saka has been afforded some first-team chances at Arsenal this season, with Emery seemingly having high hopes for the teenager.

And while Emery admits that Saka still needs to improve further, he has been impressed by what he has seen from the 18-year-old to date.

Emery now thinks that Saka has progressed so much that he considers him a viable option for the senior side, and he says that the prospect is now ‘helping’ Arsenal.

“For example Bukayo Saka is improving, helping us and taking a good performance,” Emery said.

“I know he needs to take more steps ahead in his improvement. Other players are the same.

“We are ­competitive at the moment.

“Being ­competitive we can then achieve a better way for how we can play. If we are competitive we can use different players in different moments – some with more skill, some with more capacity to do pressing and transition.”

Saka has played five times for Arsenal this campaign, across all competitions.

His biggest break came when he was selected by Emery to start for the Gunners against Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Saka impressed during that contest, but it may that he is used from the substitutes’ bench this evening.

Arsenal are set to take on Sheffield United, and Alexandre Lacazette’s return to fitness makes Saka’s task of breaking into Emery’s team all the more difficult.
