Arsene Wenger has been speaking ahead of Arsenal’s match against Crystal Palace.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has given an injury update ahead of the Gunners’ Premier League encounter with Crystal Palace on Saturday.
The Frenchman was speaking in his pre-match press conference, with the key lines later posted by the club’s official Twitter account.
Among other things, the Arsenal boss gave an update on some of his side-lined stars, with midfielder Aaron Ramsey said to be less than two weeks from a return.
The Welsh international is currently recovering from a hamstring injury and Wenger said, “Aaron Ramsey is 10 days away.”
He also said Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain was back in full training but was a little less clear when it came to fellow England international Jack Wilshere.
The 23-year-old has missed Arsenal’s last 19 matches with a Malleolar injury and Wenger said, “I cannot tell you whether Jack Wilshere will start. I’ve not picked the team definitely. It’s difficult to come back immediately.”
Wenger will not want to rush Wilshere back and given his latest comments it would be a surprise if the player did turn out for Arsenal this weekend.
With plenty of football still to be played this season, surely it is better to ensure Wilshere is fit and firing come the business-end of the campaign.
