Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has told Football.London that Kieran Tierney is desperate to return to action.

Tierney is injured at the moment and will not play for Arsenal against Leeds United in the Premier League this weekend.

The 23-year-old left-back has not played for Arsenal since their win against Newcastle United in the Premier League on January 18.

Arteta has said that Tierney has a knee injury, and the Arsenal boss has added that it is not clear when the former Celtic star will be return to action.

The Spaniard has made it clear that Tierney is desperate to get back into the team again.

Mikel Arteta told Football.London about Tierney: “We’re going to have to see how the knee reacts when he starts to get a little bit more load. He hasn’t done much yet. He’s very positive at the moment he’s in great spirits, he’s desperate to get back on the team. We will see in the next few days the moment he starts to train more with the team how that knee is feeling and react a lot.”

Staying positive

Cedic Soares has been playing at left-back in the absence of Tierney in recent weeks.

The Portugal international is a right-back by trade, and although his performances have been decent, it is clear that Arsenal need Tierney back.

The 23-year-old has established himself as a key figure at the Gunners and was playing well before his injury problems.

According to WhoScored, Tierney has scored one goal and provided one assist in 17 Premier League matches for Arsenal so far this season.
