Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger says Oscar should have been sent off during their defeat to Chelsea.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger says Oscar should have been dismissed during Chelsea’s win at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea won the game 2-0, a match marred by an ugly clash between the two managers on the sidelines.

That clash with Jose Mourinho flared after a bad tackle from Gary Cahill, but it was attacker Oscar who Wenger feels was also deserving of a red card for his persistent fouling.

Wenger told Arsenal.com: “I think Oscar was lucky to stay on the pitch because of the repeated fouls he made.

“He got a yellow card in the 88th minute and he was purposely fouling for the whole game on every break.”

The statistics from the game verify Wenger’s view, in terms of Oscar making more fouls that any other player on the pitch.

Whether any of Oscar’s fouls were deserving of a red, or if five is a figure which Wenger suggests is automatically deserving of a sending off is unclear – and it’s likely just one of many viewpoints Jose Mourinho will strongly disagree with him on.
