Kevin Campbell has said on Highbury Squad that Arsenal should make a bid for Manuel Locatelli.

The former Arsenal striker has said that he likes the Sassuolo midfielder.

Campbell does not think that Arsenal will be able to sign the 23-year-old due to the involvement of Juventus in the race.

However, the Englishman believes that the Gunners should still put in a bid and see what happens.

What Kevin Campbell says

Campbell said on Highbury Squad: “I like Locatelli. I think he is a really, really good player. We might not get him solely because of the logistics of Locatelli being Italian. Juventus are obviously a huge club in Italy. They are going to move heaven and earth for him because they are not going to see him go to another club.”

The Englishman added: “Juventus are a big draw, but Arsenal have to test the water, Arsenal have to test the water. Put a bid in. Rumour has it that Arsenal bid for him. So let’s see where it goes. I don’t think we will get him, but let’s see where it goes.”

Arsenal and Juventus interest

Arsenal have been strongly linked with a move for Locatelli in the summer transfer window.

Calciomercato.it reported this month that Arsenal and Juventus want to sign the 23-year-old.

The youngster reportedly prefers to move to former Italian champions Juventus.

Sky Sports has quoted Sassuolo’s sporting director, Giovanni Carnevali, as saying this week that the Gunners have actually made a bid for the youngster.

However, Arsenal have denied making a formal offer, according to The Times, but the Gunners have said that they are interested in the youngster.

Arsenal or Juventus?

Juventus will play in the Champions League and will also be determined to win the Serie A title next season.

Arsenal are a massive club, but staying in Italy and playing for arguably the biggest club in the country could be more appealing to Locatelli.
