Jamie Carragher has said on Sky Sports Premier League (9:35pm, August 13, 2021) that Arsenal duo Emile Smith Rowe and Kieran Tierney were excellent against Brentford.
Arsenal suffered a 2-0 defeat to Brentford away from home in the Premier League this evening.
Mikel Arteta’s side conceded a goal in each half to suffer a loss in the London derby.
It was a very poor performance from an Arsenal side who should be looking to push for Europe at least.
Former Liverpool star Carragher was on co-commentary duty for the match on Sky Sports tonight, and he believes that 21-year-old attacking midfielder Smith Rowe and 24-year-old left-back Tierney were brilliant.
Carragher said on Sky Sports Premier League (9:35pm, August 13, 2021): “When I am talking about Arsenal’s performance, I am not talking about these two.
“These two have been excellent. Emile Smith Rowe and Kieran Tierney, they really have, they don’t deserve to be on the losing side.”
Arsenal were really disappointing tonight, but both Smith Rowe and Tierney can hold their heads high.
The Englishman and the Scotsman tried their best and were always looking to push the team forward and make things happen.
Tierney took three shots and one was on target, played six key passes, had a pass accuracy of 88.2%, took 89 touches, attempted one dribble, made one clearance, and put in 11 crosses.
Smith Rowe took two shots and one was on target, played two key passes, had a pass accuracy of 98%, won one header, attempted two dribbles, and put in two crosses.
It must be hugely disappointing for Arsenal fans to see the team lose tonight and play badly, but this is only the start of the new season.
