Barcelona playmaker Philippe Coutinho believes he can be a Premier League star again amid strong links with a move to Arsenal.

Spanish newspaper SPORT claim that Coutinho has told Barcelona that he is now willing to leave the club this month.

Coutinho held talks with Barcelona over Christmas and accepts that he need to leave the Camp Nou.

The report adds that Coutinho is ‘clear’ in his belief that he can become a Premier League star once again.

Coutinho was a sensation at Liverpool, smashing 54 goals and 45 assists in 201 outings.

Barcelona saw enough in Coutinho to snap him up for a huge £142million in January 2018, but he just hasn’t lived up to his billing.

At 29, Coutinho isn’t quite a lost cause, but he hasn’t been at his best for a long time now – and Arsenal should be wary.

The Gunners appear to be frontrunners for Coutinho, but SPORT claim Arsenal need him to reduce his wages.

The Mirror note that Barcelona want an answer from Arsenal by the end of Wednesday, meaning the Gunners have just hours to communicate their intentions.

Coutinho is seemingly confident that he can shine in England once again, but we’ll soon see whether Arsenal feel the same way.
