Kevin Campbell has said on Stadium Astro that he would not mind if Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal signed Ollie Watkins from Aston Villa in the summer transfer window.
The former Arsenal striker believes that Villa striker Watkins would be a good signing for the Gunners.
However, according to the Sky Sports and talkSPORT pundit, the North London club should sign the £44,000-a-week player (Salary Sport) as the number two striker, not as the main number 9.
Campbell said: “Even Ollie Watkins, I don’t mind Ollie Watkins coming in as the second striker, I don’t.”
Could Ollie Watkins to Arsenal happen?
In our view, if Arsenal finish in the Premier League top four this season and make a good offer for Watkins, then they could be able to sign the 26-year-old England international striker in the summer transfer window.
Watkins has actually been linked with Arsenal.
The Sun reported in October 2021 that the Gunners were looking at the former Brentford star as a potential replacement for Alexandre Lacazette in the January transfer window.

ESPN reported in December 2021 Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta personally wanted to sign the England international in the January transfer window.
Moreover, Watkins is an Arsenal fan, as he himself said in November 2020 ((The London Evening Standard).
The Villa no. 11 has scored seven goals and given one assist in 24 Premier League starts so far this season.
