Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal are interested in signing Douglas Luiz from Aston Villa in the January transfer window, according to ESPN.
ESPN are reporting this morning that Arsenal manager Arteta wants to sign Luiz.
Arsenal wanted to sign Italy international midfielder Jorginho from Chelsea 18 months ago and remain keen on securing the services of a holding midfield.
And, according to the report, former Manchester City midfielder Luiz is on the radar of the Gunners.
Could Douglas Luiz leave Aston Villa for Arsenal?
In our opinion, Arsenal are unlikely to get Luiz from Premier League rivals Villa in the January transfer window.
Villa are a big club, and there is no financial pressure on them to cash in on the 23-year-old.
Manager Steven Gerrard will surely not want to lose as important a player as Luiz in the middle of the season.

The Villa no. 6 has made 13 starts and one substitute appearance in the Premier League so far this season.
Luiz has given three assists in those games.
However, a transfer could happen in the summer of 2022.
Especially if Arsenal are able to finish in the Premier League top four.
Luiz cost Villa £15 million in transfer fees in the summer of 2019 when they signed him from City (BBC Sport).
The Villans are likely to ask for much more than £15 million for the 23-year-old.
