Arsenal and Wolverhampton Wanderers have missed out on “one of the most exciting German talents” after Hoffenheim confirmed the signing of Angelo Stiller from Bayern Munich, as reported by Fussball Transfers.
While the departure hasn’t gone down particularly well among the Allianz Arena fanbase, many of whom think a home-grown prospect should have been given a chance in Hansi Flick’s first team, Stiller had little choice but to leave his boyhood club behind.
The 20-year-old has played just 44 minutes of senior football in 2020/21 – all against third-tier Duren in the DFB Pokal.
The arrival of Marc Roca from Espanyol, coupled with the emergence of Tiago Dantas and the dazzling Jamal Musiala, has denied Stiller the chance to climb the ladder.
And, according to Sport1, the deep-lying playmaker decided to put contract talks on hold late last year with his current deal expiring in July.
Arsenal and Wolves were interested but Stiller is about to swap Munich for Sinsheim instead (Sun, 12 October, page 61).
“Angelo is certainly one of the most exciting German talents in central midfield and has already gained professional experience at FC Bayern despite the extremely high competition,” says Hoffenheim director Alexander Rosen.

“He has a very fine left foot, acts skilfully and consistently in a duel, and has a high level of game intelligence.”
Stiller, who is renowned for his sharp distribution skills and composure in possession, models his game on former Bayern stars Toni Kroos and Xabi Alonso.
Interestingly, he won the German third-tier title alongside current Hoffenheim coach Sebastian Hoeness in Bayern’s reserves last season.
