Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal and Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with Arthur Vermeeren.

According to 90min, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are among the clubs interested in signing Arthur Vermeeren from Royal Antwerp.

Manchester City are also reported to be interested in Vermeeren.

Tottenham, Arsenal and City “have each made enquiries to Antwerp about Vermeeren, who has a contract until 2026”, according to the report.

90min has added that Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund and Juventus all are keen tabs on the 18-year-old midfielder.

Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur target Arthur Vermeeren rates highly

Former Tottenham defender Toby Alderweireld rates Vermeeren highly.

Football.London has quoted the 34-year-old Antwerp defender as saying about Vermeeren: “He arrived in the team by force of circumstance, but since then he has learned very quickly.

“He reads the game very well, his potential is enormous. Have I seen this before? Rarely, I think.”

My View: Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur should not rush into Arthur Vermeeren deal

In my opinion, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur should not rush into making a deal with Royal Antwerp for Arthur Vermeeren.

Of course, Vermeeren is a very talented player, but he is only 18.

The Belgium international could take a while to get used to the Premier League if he moved to North London.

And, given the number of clubs interested in Vermeeren, it is very likely that Antwerp would demand a lot in transfer fees.

Arsenal are aiming to win the Premier League title these days.

Tottenham will hope to end up in the top four this season and then kick on.

I believe that Arsenal and Tottenham need to focus on established players who can make an immediate impact on the team rather than bring in teenagers who may or may not become a star in the future.
