Brentford will demand a staggering £100 million to sell Ivan Toney in January with Premier League giants Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur sniffing around the England international.

After being deprived of the striker’s services over the last few months – Ivan Toney unavailable as he serves a ban for breaching the FA’s betting rules (Sky) – it seems that Brentford are in no mood to extend their reliance upon Bryan Mbeumo and Yoann Wissa any longer than they have to.

Sky Sports believe that, if the Bees receive enquiries regarding their talismanic centre-forward in the winter, they will respond firm and fast with an eye-watering demand of £100 million.

Let that be a warning to you, Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and co.

Arsenal quoted £100m for Brentford striker Ivan Toney

Sky add that recent reports suggesting that Toney could be available for just £60 million ‘have been met with derision’ behind the scenes at the West London outfit.

Arsenal, then, will be forced to look elsewhere for a centre-forward capable of firing the Gunners to Premier League glory, with Eddie Nketiah’s hat-trick against hapless Sheffield United unlikely to change Mikel Arteta’s mind about the need for a more reliable goalscorer.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Arsenal have already enquired about Toney’s availability. Arteta, meanwhile, was ready to make him the club’s number one January target (The Mirror).

Toney’s contract expires in 2025, and recent signs suggest he has little interest in signing a new one. Brentford will likely have little choice but to green-light a sale next summer. Though one-time Crystal Palace chairman Simon Jordan is of the opinion that the late-blooming targetman would be best suited to Arsenal’s North London neighbours

‘More a signing for Tottenham’ than Arsenal

“There is an expectation of a move. He’s going to move,” Jordan tells talkSPORT (27 September, 11am). “I quite like him for Tottenham. I think he would be a signing for Tottenham.

“But it begs a question what would happen for Richarlison in that respect.”

Toney broke the 20-goal barrier for Brentford in 2022/23. Richarlison, in contrast, has just two in 37 top-flight games since joining Spurs from Everton.
