Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are both showing an interest in Royal Antwerp teenager Arthur Vermeeren having scouted him on Wednesday night.
The Champions League group stage came to an end on Wednesday night and Royal Antwerp served up one of the big results.
The Belgian side had already been dumped out of the Champions League but still managed to produce a stunning performance against Barcelona.
Antwerp were twice pegged back but managed to find an injury-time winner, sending Barca home empty-handed.
Many will have been impressed with Antwerp’s showing with Arsenal and Tottenham potentially keen on one player in particular in Arthur Vermeeren.
Arsenal and Tottenham scout Arthur Vermeeren
90min now report that Arsenal and Tottenham both sent scouts to watch Royal Antwerp midfielder Vermeeren.
Vermeeren opened the scoring for Antwerp and no doubt impressed scouts in the process.
It’s stated that Arsenal and Tottenham have previously made ‘initial enquiries’ into signing Vermeeren.
Wednesday’s game was a great chance to see Vermeeren in action against a top European side – and he didn’t disappoint.
Vermeeren has come up in the Antwerp ranks and emerged into the first team last season with 34 appearances.

The 18-year-old is only becoming more and more important and has already bagged two caps for Belgium.
A technically gifted playmaker, Vermeeren has attracted major interest with Arsenal and Tottenham seemingly ready to go head-to-head.
This is where Tottenham fans will be hoping for some input from Antwerp defender Toby Alderweireld.
Vermeeren and Alderweireld won the Belgian Pro League title together last season and the former Spurs defender has already given his verdict on the midfielder.
Alderweireld has suggested that Vermeeren has simply ‘enormous’ potential, which Arsenal and Spurs seemingly agree with having scouted the teenager.
Alderweireld may well attempt to convince Vermeeren to pick Tottenham as his next club, but Arsenal will be pushing to win this race.
